• How does QueryIO differ from Hadoop ?
- Hadoop is a platform for distributed computing. QueryIO builds on Hadoop to provide a comprehensive Big Data querying and analysis solution. QueryIO enhances basic Hadoop with features such as Web-based cluster monitoring and management, data tagging and metadata extension, SQL-based querying and analysis, etc.
• What are the major components of QueryIO ?
- Major components of QueryIO consists of Hadoop (HDFS, MapReduce v2), Hadoop SQL & Big Data Analytics Services, Data Tagging and Extended Metadata Services, Management & Monitoring Services, Data Integration Services and S3-Compatible REST services along with various client interfaces. • How does QueryIO differ from other Hadoop and analytics vendors ?
- QueryIO is a integrated and optimized stack of software and services for querying, analyzing and visualizing your Big Data. QueryIO enables you to query your unstructured Big Data using standard SQL. QueryIO enables you to leverage standard RDBMS technologies for your Big Data Analytics needs.
• What database would you recommend with QueryIO ?
- QueryIO ships with PostgreSQL. It should be sufficient for most users. However, QueryIO works with any database with a JDBC driver. MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, etc. work with QueryIO
• Does QueryIO run on Windows ?
- No, QueryIO is not supported on Windows...yet. While a development build of Hadoop is available for Windows, Apache does not provide production builds for Windows. However, recent developments suggest a Windows version of Hadoop may be forthcoming. We are aware a large set of users want to run QueryIO on Windows, and are committed to supporting QueryIO on Windows as soon as Hadoop is supported on Windows.
